Plans for Library's Ribbon Cutting and Grand Reopening Announced

Please join in the ribbon cutting and grand reopening festivities on Saturday October 24 at the Adrian Public Library. The ribbon cutting takes place at 10 am and a open house will follow from 10 am - 2 pm.

The renovated Teen Zone and mezzanine on the south side of the building will be revealed. The Teen Zone features expanded technology, reading, studying, and casual seating areas. The mezzanine offers free wired and wireless Internet access, group study areas, casual seating, and a “board room” for use by local businesses and organizations. The “board room” was created to provide a space for local entrepreneurs and small businesses to meet with clients and for networking opportunities.

Refreshments will be served in the café area on the main floor by the café vendor Stone’s Café and Catering and library staff. Stone’s Café is expected to open their library café later this year. Construction of the service area of the café will be completed in early November followed by the installation of the café equipment.

Activities for all ages will take place during the reopening celebration. The youth area will be transformed into a reading construction zone. Musical entertainment will be provided by Adrian Symphony harpist Margot Hayward from 10 am – 2 pm. An art exhibition by local artist Gail Palpant will be available for viewing in the meeting room during regular library hours from 10 am – 5:30 pm. Due to elevator renovations visitors must access the youth area and meeting room by stairs.

In celebration of Teen Read Week, the Teen Zone will be open special hours from 7 – 10 pm for teens in grades 7 – 12 only on Saturday October 24. Music, refreshments, and gaming will be available.

Please stop by and visit your "new" Adrian Public Library.
