City Hall Parking Lot Transformation

Over the last week significant work has taken place in the parking lot behind city hall, library and The Croswell Theater. Changes take place daily as city DPW workers and contractors strive to get the majority of the work completed in time for Art-A-Licious which takes place September 17 and 18. These photos show the curb and gutter work.

North Side of City Hall

The sidewalk area immediately north of city hall is being transformed into a open plaza area similar to the brick area behind the library. The circle driveway, flower bed, and trees have been removed. The flags poles were temporary removed and the sidewalk has been demolished to make way for the new plaza. City Hall is still open for business and we hope you will pardon the dust while we complete this transformation. The Bank of Lenawee time capsule that was located in the circle flower bed has been recovered and will be given to First Federal Bank.

City Hall Parking Lot Bioswale Prep Work

City of Adrian Department of Public Work employees continue to work on the parking lot behind city hall in preparation for the installation of a bioswale. The bioswale is a environmentally friendly retention basin. When completed it will run the length of the parking lot and capture run off from the parking lot. Slusarski Excavating & Paving continues to demo the "old" city hall. The building is now a shell of the original.

Demolition of Old City Hall

Work continues on the demolition of the "old" city hall by Slusarski Excavating & Paving. Recent work included the removal of sections of the roof and steel.

City Hall Parking Lot Prep Work

The south Toledo Street parking lot which serves the City Hall, Library, Croswell, and local businesses will be redesigned as part of the city complex project. The goal is to create a pedestrian friendly lot which requires little maintenance. Service Electric was recently awarded the bid to put in new LED lighting. Prep work for this project has started. Much of the prep work will be completed by the City's DPW staff. In these photos you can see them hard at work.

Aunt Laura On The Move

The soon to be 101 year old statue of Laura Haviland, also known as Aunt Laura, was moved yesterday from the front of the old City Hall under the guidance of Flatlanders Sculpture Supply and Gallery from Blissfield. Floyd's Rigging and Machinery Movers from Adrian conducted the move. Aunt Laura was moved in preparation for the demolishment of the old City Hall. She was moved to storage at our Parks and Forestry building to keep her from harm during the demo. Movement of a 15,000 pound statue is no easy feat but the crews from Flatlanders, Floyd's and city staff did a great job. It is expected that Aunt Laura will be returned to the site of the old City Hall at a future date.
