Work Has Started On the Police Station

Activity has started on the lot to the East of the library. This is the location for the new police station. Slusarski Excavating and Paving has cleared the land and Krieghoff- Lenawee have started work on the foundation. The library may be rocking a bit during this process but it is for a good cause!

Library West Side Facade Work Completed

The brick and EIFS work on the West side of the library was completed recently. Now that we have sealed the West side of the building we have started repairs on the meeting room. Last year the room sustained significant water damage and the dry wall was replaced this past week. The next step is to get the meeting room painted.

New EIFS Facade on West Exterior

As you can see from the attached photo the new EIFS is starting to go up on the exterior of the building. This photo shows the new finish which has been placed on the west side of the library near the new city hall. The finish you see was chosen to match the limestone which is located on the cap of the library's front and to match the similar colored stone that is used in the trim throughout the exterior. This finish will soon be found sealing the east, north and south sides of the library.

West Wall Progress

The brick work on all four sides of the library's exterior was completed early last week and the windows along Maumee have been installed. This week work started on the West Wall of the library's exterior. Shively-Bouma, Inc. is attaching EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finishing System). This material is a lightweight synthetic material that is used to seal and finish the exterior of the building. It is similar to the material that previously resided on the library's exterior but with improved waterproofing. This material will be also be placed on the north and east walls of the library above the brick.

Big Changes

The facade of the library along Maumee is almost finished! The brickwork is completed and the limestone caps were placed on the building yesterday. Twenty two pieces of limestone were carefully placed on the building using a crane under the guidance of the masons Hikes & Dominique. The cap is beautiful and you will soon be able to see it without the distraction of the scaffolding. Once the brick is cleaned up the scaffolding will be removed and the front windows will be placed. Most of the exterior work along Maumee is completed and brick work on the other three sides of the building is progressing.
