Library Lane is the alley between the Library and the new City Hall (former Bank of Lenawee Building). For some time we have been fighting water issues in Library Lane that required the removal of the brick pavers and the installation of a concrete pathway with improved drainage. Rock Hard Concrete was hired by the City to install new concrete. Along with the return of Library Lane the sidewalks along the south side of the library are returning. Soon you will see the sidewalks along the north side of the library return. The pavers immediate adjacent to the library's north side were removed to make way for the new concrete sidewalks once the storm lines for the new police station are installed. The sidewalk will make it easier to maintain this area during the winter months and easier for our visitors to walk on.

New Police Station
The new Police Station is being built immediately to the east of the library. Over the best several days the mason's Hikes and Dominick have been putting up a common wall between the two buildings. In this photo you can see the footprint of the new police station. It is about half of the size of the library. You can also see the plumbers from Heritage Plumbing and Heating working on the new police station.

Exterior Barricade Removed - New Facade Revealed
On Saturday August 15 the library's exterior construction barricade was removed and our new facade revealed. Check out the look of your new Adrian Public Library!!!! The front entrance is not yet open for public use as additional sidewalk work must be completed along the south side of the library. This entrance is expected to open by early October. The barricade had been placed on the south of the library in May of 2007 due to safety concerns related to our structural damage. After two years and many repairs the removal of this barricade resulted in much celebration at the library - particularly by the director who was tired of getting it repaired!

Work Has Started On the Police Station
Activity has started on the lot to the East of the library. This is the location for the new police station. Slusarski Excavating and Paving has cleared the land and Krieghoff- Lenawee have started work on the foundation. The library may be rocking a bit during this process but it is for a good cause!
Library West Side Facade Work Completed
The brick and EIFS work on the West side of the library was completed recently. Now that we have sealed the West side of the building we have started repairs on the meeting room. Last year the room sustained significant water damage and the dry wall was replaced this past week. The next step is to get the meeting room painted.
